Front view. The alignment of my car was very accurate, but also required a lot of trial and error to get correct. There are four pieces of balsa (colored black) on the car- two on the left, and two on the right. To align the car, I would put the pointer on the center of the starting line and sit cross-legged on the 4m mark on the track. I then put my elbows down on the floor. While this may seem a strange position, it allowed me to have a consistent vantage point on the car from run to run. After sitting, I would make my partner move the car in such a fashion that would make the two pieces of balsa on the left side of the car look like one continuous line, and the two pieces on the right one line. Usually, my partner would sit behind the car and move the back wheels in the direction that I indicated. While it was a lengthy process to determine where exactly the balsa should be to allow the car to go straight, the resulting alignment was extremely accurate. |
